Midlife Astrological Transits, Ages 37–46

Pluto Square — What we have repressed comes to the surface, brings us to our knees, birth/rebirth, transformation, deep, intense to our core. Slow, deep inner work and profound change to yourself. Lasts about two years. Honestly, I do not know what I was doing then because I am always going through some psychological transformative process, (lol, I am a Scorpio sun). I do know that I was literally on my hands and knees giving birth to my son at home during the exact degrees of my Pluto Square. Giving birth (or re-birth) is Pluto!

Neptune Square — Spiritual awakening, sacrifice, confusion, dissociation, feeling lost. During mine I had 2 miscarriages and turned it into a cause (Neptune) by writing it/ publishing it. Relinquishing certain dreams while finding a new vision for the future. Slowing down, subtle and silent, but deceptively powerful. Lasts about one year.

Uranus Opposition — sudden and unexpected change, life turns upside down, great awakening aka midlife crisis. Lasts about one year. Relationship and family dynamics changed, moved into a new home, yoga from studio to zoom overnight, pierced my nose, awful sleep, rebound relationship, took more risks — some bad, some good. This one is usually called the “midlife crisis” in astrology, and you can feel a little crazy and over caffeinated.

Saturn Opposition — High school principal shows up to see if you have been doing your lessons. Not friendly. Can feel slow, boring, lonely, humbling, maturing, opportunity to face a theme that showed up 14 years ago, strong desire to create something real in the world, you are maturing and realizing you’re really aging. This transit had me look hard at my relationships and boundaries and was a big choice point of the old vs new. It also shows that a little discipline brings freedom. Lasts about a month but felt for one year really and the affects are long lasting.

Midlife is not for sissies. It takes stamina and courage and compassion for yourself and the entire scary beautiful mess. It is worth it. It is deep soul work. “Your Self is seeking yourself”. James Hollis
